In short: we collect nothing. Mise has no account, no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your photos are read on your iPhone, and the ingredients go into your own Reminders. We, HOLMES IV PTE. LTD., never see any of it.
Photos and the camera
- Mise uses the camera only while you are scanning a page.
- From your photo library, Mise only receives the photos you pick or share with it. It cannot browse your library.
- Photos are read on your iPhone with Apple’s built-in text recognition. Mise does not save them. They are discarded when you finish reviewing the recipe.
Apple Intelligence
If Apple Intelligence is turned on, Mise uses Apple’s on-device language model to pick the ingredients out of the text. This runs on your iPhone; the text is not sent to Apple or to us. Without Apple Intelligence, Mise uses its own built-in parser, also on your iPhone.
Reminders
Mise adds the ingredients you choose to a Reminders list you pick. It reads your lists so you can choose one, and reads open items on that list so it doesn’t add duplicates. Your Reminders are stored and synced by Apple (for example through iCloud) under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Mise does not copy them anywhere.
Siri, Shortcuts, the share sheet and Visual Intelligence
These features run Mise on your iPhone with the photos you give them. When you use Visual Intelligence and tap Mise’s suggestion, the image is kept in Mise’s private storage on your iPhone so Mise can open it, and deleted once it has. Images you don’t tap are deleted later, when Visual Intelligence next checks with Mise.
Settings
Your Mise settings (default list, pantry staples) are stored only on your iPhone.
Crash reports
If you have chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. They describe where the app crashed and contain no photos, recipes or reminders. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Deleting your data
Deleting Mise removes its settings from your iPhone. Items Mise added to Reminders stay there until you delete them in Reminders.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Because we collect nothing, a change can never apply to data we already hold: there is none.
